FULL ECOFINISH is the innovative system for the upgrading of full bovine hides for automotive interiors and upholstery.
FULL ECOFINISH is an eco-friendly system designed to process hides up to 3400 mm in width, with low water consumption and reduced energy usage. This patented system, developed by Costa Srl and in use for over two years in a leading tannery in Arzignano, guarantees uniform finishing free from surface defects with a perfectly embossed grain, using less chemical product compared to traditional finishing methods. It significantly improves the quality and value of lower-grade hides.
The system features a special low-pressure rotary press, whose embossing cylinders are protected by an ultra-thin film. This film prevents the hides from adhering to the cylinders, guides them through the line, and protects them from dust and impurities.

Utilizes Customer's Embossing Rollers
A key advantage of the low-pressure press is its compatibility with embossing cylinders already available in tanneries, enabling the production of a variety of grains, including fine corrected and coarse grains. The process, by deforming the “not-fully-dried” chemical product, creates a more defined and permanent grain compared to traditional embossing techniques. Additionally, the protective film is fully recyclable. Another significant benefit of the FULL ECOFINISH system is the reduced surface loss compared to traditional finishing methods, thanks to the adherence of the leather to the film during low-temperature drying and subsequent stabilization, which minimizes shrinkage.
This highly efficient and eco-friendly process, a result of Gemata SpA’s extensive experience in leather and synthetic material finishing, ensures the production of full hides of excellent quality with reduced energy consumption, lower operating costs and minimal environmental impact. Production speed can reach up to 14 m/min, depending on the length of the ovens.
